Postdoctoral Position in Cancer Drug Resistance and Intratumor Heterogeneity
Rouen, France
A three-year postdoctoral position funded by the French National Cancer Institute (INCa) is available in the group of Dr. Luca Grumolato at the University of Rouen Normandie, Inserm U1239 (Rouen, France), to investigate non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) resistance to EGFR inhibitors (EGFRi). We have recently devised CRISPR-barcoding, a novel approach to recapitulate and trace the emergence of a new mutation in a subset of cancer cells, which enables functional studies on a gene of interest in a context that mimics intratumor heterogeneity (Guernet et al., Mol. Cell 2016). Using this strategy, we have identified a small molecule capable of preventing amplification of resistant clones in the presence of EGFRi through a novel mechanism. The aims of this project are: (1) further characterize the effects of the identified compound, both in vitro and in vivo, (2) investigate the contribution of intratumor heterogeneity to NSCLC drug resistance and (3) devise new combination treatments to eradicate resistant cells.
Inserm U1239 is a highly dynamic laboratory, which recently moved into a new building with access to state-of-the-art imaging, proteomic and animal facilities. Dr. Grumolato's group is supported by different National and Regional funding agencies and associations, including INCa, ANR, Ligue contre le Cancer and Fondation ARC. For this project, we have established a consortium with Pr. S.A. Aaronson at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York (USA), and Pr. A. Cortot at Lille University Hospital, UMR8161, Institute of Biology of Lille (IBL), Lille (France).
